Robotics 1 is a lab-based course that uses a hands-on approach to introduce the basic concepts of robotics, focusing on the construction and programming of autonomous mobile robots. Course information will be tied to lab experiments; students will work in groups to build and test increasingly more complex mobile robots, culminating in a series of robot contests. We will be using the VEX V5 robotics system as our platform. Students will divide into groups and complete a variety of robot construction and programming challenges by following the Engineering Cycle.
Before working with robots in the HRV Robotics lab, all students and parents must print, sign, and return this safety and behavior contract. Paper copies are available for students to pick up in the classroom.
I teach a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards.
